I supervise a team that includes some younger people who have good skills but not much confidence yet. I don’t want their lack of experience to get them fired or hurt our productivity. What can I do?

Regular communication of both praise and feedback can help all employees make the most of what they excel at doing, and compensate if they are going off course. Creating an environment that encourages in-the-moment feedback and open dialogue will help prevent the confidence-killing anxiety that grows in environments where feedback is not given until someone’s employment is in jeopardy.

EFR Better Living services also offer several options for supporting employees in their professional development. Consultation for specific employee relation concerns is just a phone call away. EFR Consultants can work with managers to provide onsite team trainings for a variety of performance improvement topics. And individual counseling services are always available as a resource for those employees who may need support in balancing work expectations with personal stressors.
